The quality of coach98’s analysis will depend on the quality of the logging system you use in your track car. In general, logs derived from mobile Phone hardware alone will not be good enough. Mobile phones typically only log at 1 sample per second and have mobility models which are stressed by high G-force circuit driving. See below for example of a bad log.
There are several mobile phone applications that allow connection to high quality GNSS modules. Examples of mobile phone applications are Harry’s Laptime and Race Chrono which can integrate high quality GNSS modules such as Dual XGPS 160 and Racelogic VBOX Sport to name a few.
Currently coach98 supports log files from
- Harry’s Laptimer https://www.gps-laptimer.de/
- RaceChrono https://racechrono.com/
- Racelogic GPS data-loggers, including VBOX, Video VBOX, VBOX Sport, DriftBox and PerformanceBox. Export lap to csv using https://en.racelogic.support/VBOX_Automotive/01General_Information/Knowledge_Base/Export_as_CSV
The log must include at least one lap. It does matter where your logging application decided to start and finish, coach98 will align to the Tracks’s start and finish lines. Only the first complete lap in the log file will be processed.
Again, please ensure that quality GNSS receivers are used in your track car, inbuilt mobile phone hardware will not be generally be sufficient. For example the following log (Red trace) was taken on a iPhone 7. The track limits are the black lines.
